The market is heating up this summer
There’s a lot happening in the energy world today. Check out some stories we’re following.

Markets Map

The Retail Energy Advancement League published a study on the status of the energy markets. The study reveals those consumers in states with restructured energy markets fare better than those in monopolized utility states. Restructured markets support clean energy transitions, electric vehicle adoption, and emission reduction without relying on taxpayer dollars. Check out the full report here.

New York State
Have you seen the new Regulations?

Any partner with customers or prospects in New York will see the following changes on August 31:

  • Broker margin + earnings will be published on every customer contract.
  • The state will implement a licensing requirement. We've got you covered here.

If you have current or future customers in New York, we highly recommend contacting them prior to August 31.

Natural Gas
Market Information

The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) forecasts a rise in the Henry Hub spot price due to declining natural gas production. Expect Henry Hub prices to average over $2.80 per MMBtu in 2023, up from about $2.40/MMBtu in the first half of the year.

What does this mean? There’s speculation of an increase in demand and a decrease in supply. If the trend follows, general rates for both electricity and gas will increase.

Help Customers Save Money!

Skyrocketing energy bills have left businesses struggling without a procurement plan. Take, for instance, a restaurant franchise facing hefty utility bills along with employee turnover and rising supply costs.

After conducting an analysis of the customer's electric bills from 2022, a Power Kiosk partner found a significant opportunity:

  • Stores on expired contracts were paying $0.215/kWh.
  • Stores with their old utility company, AEP Ohio, were paying $0.10269/kWh.
  • A reverse auction found a competitive supply rate of $0.0615/kWh.
  • As a result, the restaurant franchise avoided a staggering $395,983 in additional electric costs through smarter energy procurement and a proactive energy partner to help them.

There are opportunities like this with many customers. A pro-active approach to renewals will allow you to avoid missed renewals, holdover rates, and angry customers. Utilize our existing tools like the renewal grid and expiration notices to stay ahead. If there’s something missing, or something you’d like to see, we would love the feedback.
